LEGO Grant Proposal: Preventing Theft in Mainstream Wallets with Vaults
Asks Lido's LEGO to pledge $30,000 toward a $240,000 effort to get mainstream wallets to ship spending-limited savings vaults that limit losses from stolen seed phrases.
One of four sub-proposals under the TheDAO Security Fund request to LEGO. The open RFP, co-drafted by pcaversaccio and Griff Green, targets wallet vaults: a savings area inside an existing wallet with a small daily spending limit, where anything above the limit can only go to an escape-hatch address the seed phrase does not control (such as a hardware wallet or multisig). The post notes this is unrelated to Lido's stVaults and cites Chainalysis figures of at least 80,000 personal wallet compromise victims and $713 million stolen from individuals in 2025. The author describes it as a marketing initiative: the whole budget is tied to adoption milestones, namely a first major wallet shipping vaults holding $15M+ for 2,000+ users, a campaign reaching 1M+ organic impressions as vaults grow to $30M, and 3+ more wallets shipping vaults holding another $25M. Lido's share is $30,000 (12.5% of the goal), sent to the initiative Safe 0x48F5...D22d on Ethereum mainnet in USDC, USDT, DAI or USDS, or pledged and sent only if the full goal is raised by February 1, 2027.
