LEGO Grant Proposal: Fixing Shared Problems Before They Turn Into Lost Funds
TheDAO Security Fund asks Lido's LEGO grants program to back four Ethereum security projects with $95,000 total, either sent now or pledged until each project is fully funded.
This umbrella proposal asks LEGO (Lido Ecosystem Grants Organisation) to support four initiatives in TheDAO Security Fund's ETHSecurity Initiatives Round: Assertions for Safes ($10,000 of a $75,000 goal), Decentralized Privacy-Preserving EDR ($30,000 of $300,000), Production-Ready Local-First Safe UI ($25,000 of $120,000) and Preventing Theft in Mainstream Wallets with Vaults ($30,000 of $240,000). For each, LEGO may send funds now or pledge them, paying only if the initiative reaches 100% of its goal by February 1, 2027; otherwise nothing is sent. Funds go to each initiative's own 3-of-5 Safe held by TheDAO Security Fund and are released to teams by milestone, in USDC, USDT, DAI or USDS. The author cites the April KelpDAO/LayerZero exploit and the DeFi United recovery, to which Lido DAO contributed 2,500 stETH, as motivation for funding prevention. TheDAO Security Fund says it will put in 400 ETH across the round, at most $200,000 per initiative, but only for initiatives that raise at least 25% of their cost from other backers; ETHSecurity Badge holders vote on its allocation in mid-November and fundraising closes end of January. The post notes none of Lido's amounts alone reach the 25% threshold. Open question: the per-item post for the Safe UI lists $20,000 in its header and $25,000 in its budget line.
